Ontario Interactive Digital Media Tax Credit (OIDMTC)

Have you developed any interactive digital products for entertainment, education, or general information? Copyrighted media products for commercial exploitation? Do you deliver your end-product in an electronic format via CD ROM, Internet, or digital media? Is your product interactive, with integrated text, audio and video?

If so, you may be entitled to a refund on your content production investment.

The Ontario Media Development Corporation (an agency of the Ministry of Culture) and the Ontario Ministry of Revenue jointly administer a 25-40% refundable tax credit covering labor, marketing, and distribution costs to businesses whose products qualify.

The product must utilize and incorporate at least 2 of the 3 following components:

• Text
• Sound
• Images

If your business has a permanent establishment in Ontario and you file an Ontario tax return, this program may offset your eligible costs with a tax credit.

The bottom line? Ontario firms developing interactive media may be eligible for substantial refunds.
